ESHABETA II KENNEL, INC.
What can the registered name tell you? If the dogs name or any of the names in the pedigree contain the word "ESHABETA" you know that we bred those dogs. Although to some of you this may seem obvious, there seems to be confusion surrounding the use of our dogs photos by giving them different names, and people claiming to own them when we have never relinquished custody or ownership, even momentarily. Further confusion seems to be with people purchasing dogs from our kennel whose registered names reflect that we created them here through our breeding program. (A hypothetical example: Xadrez of Eshabeta II, call name Reno.) Courtesy, ethics and honesty require that credit belongs to the persons kennel who created the dog/bitch/puppy, not the purchaser or co-owner/co-breeder. It is the job of the purchaser or co-owner/co-breeder to create their own beautiful examples of the breed so that they can take pride in what their hard work produced and name their litters, including their kennel name. In other words, referring to a purchased or co-owned custodial animal as if the purchaser or co-owner/co-breeder or custodian created the animal is not ethical. Lets take, for example, Xadrez of Eshabeta (Registered name), call name "Reno". If we sold Reno to Blow Hard Kennel and they call him Blow Hard Bob in all their ads, confusion arises when selling their puppies, as they never mention that this great dog was from someone elses kennel. Another confusion surrounding this issue is not giving credit to the kennel by using a call name only, "BOB", with no acknowledgment of who bred the dog. These may seem trivial issues, and in the grand scheme of life they are; but when dogs/bitches/puppies have major show wins, and other exemplary achievements. It is only right and natural that the one who bred that animal receives due credit by using the dogs registered name, which always contains the kennel/breeder name. It is not right for breeders to skip the hard work and revel in the glory of accomplishments that are not theirs. |
