Jr went through an unofficial TT on Monday. I
stopped by one of the guys (Kip) in the sch club house. I took Jr with me
for the ride to do some errands so he would figure out that everyone is
not going to touch him. He was fine when I took a piece of paper from Kip
and while we were sitting on the coffee table talking. There were five
people there and he was ignoring them all. Kip's wife opened a big
umbrella to put in/over the table for shade and protection from the
upcoming rain. Jr growled and stood up but then layed back down when she
didn't do anything else. All was well until Kip was making a piece of
drywall to put in the window next to his airconditioner. He cut the top
and layed it down on the edge of the table and hit it to break the piece
off. Jr went ballistic. Kip took off and all was well. He came back and Jr
barked/growled/lunged at the end of his leash. He calmed down until Kip
spilled his pop on his lap and had to jump up. Jr went nuts again, this
time Kip grabbed a puppy sleeve and put it on, Jr bit the heck out of it
and Kip let it go and ran away. I put him in the car, a little upset. I
came back and they have now nicknamed him "Colt". They were
amazingly impressed. I was upset. He said it would have done more damage
than good if he would have ignored him. If he would have been ignored he
might have thought he was not scarry, this way he knew he was scarry and
what it might take to scare someone off. They said it would help build his
confidence more. I don't know. He seems fine, I didn't do anything to hurt
his temp did I? We made one more stop and had puppy classes Mon night
and he was his normal self. They said that some dogs are not ready for the
bite until they are two (this is where they put Thor) and some when they
are young (like Jr). It depends on the dog, Jr took a full bite, his tail
was up, his hair was up, he was "up", and he did not try to run
away from the scene (he had lots of open room in every direction)--these
are all good things according to them. Quote from Kip "That was a
defense bite but the nastiest/fulliest one I have seen, he is one bad***
dog."
