Hi Dawna,
Here are some pictures of our wonderful old boy,
"Sumo" These were taken a few weeks ago
he was born August 10, 1997 and we met you across the
border in BC on Oct. 25/97. His registered name is "Blue Thunder
Eshabeta Iselo"
As you promised, he has proven to be the most loyal
(and loving) dog we have ever known. He has just turned 11 years
old, and we love him to bits.
We were out for a walk a few weeks ago and a dog
along the way broke off from his chain and ran out at us and tried
to bite my husband. Sumo calmly walked over to the dog and latched
on to his hind quarters and would not let go. My husband tried to
pry his mouth open but he couldn't. We are very sorry to say this,
but my husband had to punch Sumo to make him let go. (He apologized
profusely to Sumo afterwards!!) The people wanted us to pay the vet
bill, but the Town said absolutely no way, and they should get a
$500. fine on top of that. In the ordeal I was knocked to the
ground and when I put up my arm for balance to try to get up, Sumo
bent down and put his big head under my arm and stood up to help me
up.
When we have him outside he has to be chained up
until we have our new fence finished. He has destroyed the chain
link dog run we had, he makes holes in it somehow. All he wants is
to be near us, and we keep him inside unless it's a nice day out and
he wants to go out for a few hours.
Over the years he has travelled with us in our
motorhome many times throughout Canada, the U.S. and Mexico. We
lived in BC (Whistler) for about half of Sumo's life and he was a
faithful 'Bear Dog'; all you would have to say (even still) is
"where's the bear Sumo?" and he immediately starts looking in all
directions for a bear. He has treed many many bears and chased
others away.
He sired his first and only litter 2 years ago. But
now he spends most of his days curled up on his soft dog bed, or
trying to shove his head into my hand so I will pet him.
Thankyou very much for this great addition to our
family.
Sincerely,
Jamie & Dean Stevenson

Dawna,
Isabel is doing well, having spontaneously (i.e. without surgery)
recovered
from both knee strains. She'll be 2 later this month. She has the
BIG
ATTITUDE that you wrote about Sissy, that's for sure!

Me & Scotch - Scotch is between 170-180lbs I am
guessing but is much faster than me at full sprint and very agile.
He has also really come into temperament - zero fear and zero
tolerance of people he perceives to be a threat.
