Hi Dawna,

How are you? Hope that all is well. My buddy is doing very well and growing at rapid rate. He has begun barking at strangers now. He is the pride and joy of our home. Attached is a picture of him taken recently.

Hi Dawna,
Here are some pictures of our wonderful old boy, "Sumo" These were taken a few weeks ago
he was born August 10, 1997 and we met you across the border in BC on Oct. 25/97.  His registered name is "Blue Thunder Eshabeta Iselo"

As you promised, he has proven to be the most loyal (and loving) dog we have ever known.  He has just turned 11 years old, and we love him to bits.

We were out for a walk a few weeks ago and a dog along the way broke off from his chain and ran out at us and tried to bite my husband.  Sumo calmly walked over to the dog and latched on to his hind quarters and would not let go.  My husband tried to pry his mouth open but he couldn't.  We are very sorry to say this, but my husband had to punch Sumo to make him let go.  (He apologized profusely to Sumo afterwards!!) The people wanted us to pay the vet bill, but the Town said absolutely no way, and they should get a $500. fine on top of that.  In the ordeal I was knocked to the ground and when I put up my arm for balance to try to get up, Sumo bent down and put his big head under my arm and stood up to help me up.

When we have him outside he has to be chained up until we have our new fence finished.  He has destroyed the chain link dog run we had, he makes holes in it somehow.  All he wants is to be near us, and we keep him inside unless it's a nice day out and he wants to go out for a few hours.

Over the years he has travelled with us in our motorhome many times throughout Canada, the U.S. and Mexico.  We lived in BC  (Whistler) for about half of Sumo's life and he was a faithful 'Bear Dog'; all you would have to say (even still) is "where's the bear Sumo?"  and he immediately starts looking in all directions for a bear.  He has treed many many bears and chased others away.

He sired his first and only litter 2 years ago.  But now he spends most of his days curled up on his soft dog bed, or trying to shove his head into my hand so I will pet him.

Thankyou very much for this great addition to our family.

Sincerely,

Dawna,

Isabel is doing well, having spontaneously (i.e. without surgery) recovered
from both knee strains.  She'll be 2 later this month.  She has the BIG
ATTITUDE that you wrote about Sissy, that's for sure!

Me & Scotch - Scotch is between 170-180lbs I am guessing but is much faster than me at full sprint and very agile.

He has also really come into temperament - zero fear and zero tolerance of people he perceives to be a threat.

Dawna,

Received the papers for Ares today.  Attached are some pictures.  Rough estimate is about 120 lbs and his eyes are STILL green/yellow.  I've not seen a Fila like him yet.  Neither of us recalls Brutus being this large at 8 months and he ultimately ended up being 171 lbs.  Ares is still in and out of his guarding phase, but I know that will become more constant as he matures.  He adores all of us and will cry nonstop at the nearest door to the kids if they are out of his sight, although lately he's just taken to ramming the door open!  He's big, nosy, smart as can be, loveable as all get out and scaring the hell out of my neighbors - exactly what we wanted :-) Thanks.

Hey Dawna – happy new year!

We are still enjoying Buster – what a wonderful dog he is – and he’s developing the perfect Fila personality.  Loves our family and especially our children as if he were one of us – but will not let anyone not in our immediate pod get near us or the house!  He’s quite smart too – has figured out how to press down on our front door handle and just let himself in the house like a person – not something we’re thrilled about but we have to laugh anytime we hear the door open and him tiptoeing inside…J

Hi Dawna,

Things have slowed down around here after the holidays enough, that I snapped those pics of Mac and Zelda that I told you I would get! My angel beauties!

It is pretty damn cold here ( -5 F today) so we have been spending too much time indoors and in front of the T.V. ! ( I love my Criminal Minds marathons and the relaxation is nice, so I'm not complaining!) The dogs love to laze around on the couch! Our couch is ancient, but why replace it with a three year old and dogs? It is soft and hides hair well--what more does one want? ;-)

Hope this finds you well. Take very good care.

 All my best,

 Sarah
