Letters Pg 4

Back

Hi Dawna

Just wanted to get you an update!  He is great!  All weekend we kept trying names on him and then the vet ended up naming him - MAX (Stands for Maximum Dog).  What a sweetheart.

Saturday evening I slept on the couch and Max slept on the floor beside me.  He woke me up at about 2:00 to go out - went and peed then came back in and went back to sleep.  He loves to play with the other dogs but the Rottie still has some reservations about him.  (the Rottie is some what of a special needs dog (vet says he may be somewhat retarded) so he isn't sure if Max is just playing or attacking him).  All in all - everyone is settling in to their place.  The best part is that this guy seems to be having a good affect on the Rottie - he is calming down about the horses now.

Put his collar on him Sat evening and after a few minutes of trying to look at it (spinning in circles!) he settled down fine.

We took Max with us on Sunday to visit some friends and he acts like he has always done this.  Rides in the truck great - stays behind the seat.  Loves to visit with people - he makes the first move with no hesitation but always comes back to us after a few minutes.  He is definately becoming a "Mama's Boy"!

Yesterday I took him to the vet - he's a big hit there!  They all knew Kaniabear so they stayed back til Max made the overtures first - which of course he did.  He seems to like having people make a fuss over him for a minute then he comes back to me and he's done with them.   He walked right in the vets office on a leash like he has done this everyday also.  The vet says he is in outstanding condition.  He had his rabies shot.  You won't believe this - he weighed in at 65.8Lbs!!!!  At only 16 weeks old!

So far - no upset stomachs and after the first time he now knows where to go potty so no accidents in the house.  He is eating great - never missed a meal and he loves his new squeaky toys.  We cannot believe how he just takes everything in stride.  I just love to watch him try to gallop around - he feet are always in the way.  Oh - he barks and talks to the other dogs when they are ignoring him.

Thank you so very much Dawna - he is a really special guy.  I will send some pics this weekend.

Always,
Ange

Hey Dawna,
Hope all is well.  Quick question...  Up until about a week ago, Marley's appetite has been seemingly insatiable.  Now I have to coax him to finish nearly all of his meals.  He gets fresh meat at every feeding over his dry food (Canidae) usually with some sort of gravy or sauce to make it more interesting.  He gets a wide variety of vegetables, fruit and meat, so I can't imagine he's bored with what I'm feeding him.  He does like to pick out the meat and leave the dry food though.  Are there any appetite stimulants worth considering?  I want to make sure  he's getting all the nutrition he needs while he's growing so fast... and he certainly is.  Marley is absolutely the most beautiful puppy I could have ever hoped for.  I cannot get enough of him!
Thanks,

Pete
