Hi Dawna ;
Donner has exhibited unusual character recently. We
locked him in the house when we took a long car trip that we thought
would be too stressfull for him. We always tell Donner he is in
charge of guarding the house , and he is quite comfortable going from
room to room to all his sleeping places. We were gone from about 8am
until 4:30pm on a Sunday. When we got back, the front house door was
standing wide open and there was Donner , in the doorway on the
front porch barking ferociously at us. When he recognized us , he
stopped barking and was very happy to see us. There was no mace or
pepper spray on him , and he did not appear hurt in any way -no marks of
an electric shock from a cattle prod, taser etc. -Living out
here, we know all the tricks the bad guys use against dogs and how
to detect them. There were no scratches on the inside of the door
, so Donner didn't force it open .( He knows a gate and how to open
one) It is possible that he stood against the door and pushed the latch
- we don't know.
It may be that Donner surprised an intruder and the
guy was'nt prepared to deal with a dog in the house. Nothing was
missing. We don't know what happened , but the main thing is , Donner
wasn't hurt and he didn't run away. The front porch is unfenced
and is wide open to miles of wild land. Any other male dog would have been
out chasing the abundant wild life - deer , foxes, coyotes, bobcats ,
skunks , etc. Donner just stayed at his post in the front doorway -
guarding . This shows remakable character. Thank you for breeding
such wonderful dogs.
Mike

Hopefully you got Terry' telephone
message by now telling you we did get him! US. Air goofed and sent him
to the freight office, after telling me to come to baggage claim, but we
finally picked him up. He's absolutely beautiful, even more handsome
than his pictures. It was such a cute thing putting his teddy bear in
there, what a nice thing to do.
I was a little worried that these
dalmatian girls would be too tough on him, so we've been going pretty
slowly with that. However, he promptly bit the leader, and grabbed one
of her toys. She was so shocked that now she thinks he's her friend. Of
course the interaction will all be supervised for some time, I think.
He's been admiring himself in the mirror, and casing the joint to see
what looks good to chew.
Will you be sending his papers? Whatever
I have to fill out to send to get him registered?
Thanks for all the interesting articles
also. Will keep you posted. Cindy

Subject: Hi Dawna!
Dawna, I was just thinking, in your spare
time <giggle> have you thought about writing a book? I know I'd
love to hear about how you intended to get just one Fila, and ended up
with the kennel! As a matter of fact, I was wondering about it, because
you have more information on your website, than ............. has
in her "book" that I paid twenty-five dollars for! With your
sense of humor, I know it would be a hit.
Another thing I was curious about - the
two fila clubs. What was the disagreement that made two clubs -
something about the standard? Do you recommend either?
One last question - when stacking the
filas, are they slightly offset? I think from the pictures they are, but
I'm not sure. Is the tail level?
I think Kodiak has already doubled in
length since he came here a week ago! He was playing with Terry's
grandson today, and Tyler (who is three) told his mother that he wants a
puppy just like that. Funny, since he has a lab, and there of course are
all the dalmatians! I was surprised by how gentle the puppy was with the
child. Terry has already gone from saying "just the one fila"
to "when we get another one". Guess he wants another one,
since this one is mine :)
Hope you're finally getting to relax a
little after all the frenzy of matching up puppies with people! Cindy

Hi Donna
Thought I would report on our Fila dog, she is
1year 5months now and around 120 lbs. she is total family and has been
defined as "pampered", by some spoiled by others.
she has become a lot growl e er the past couple of
months, I guess her voice is changing, she prefers every one wait at the
gate ,on the outside until the boss gets there, to look the situation
over, and she keeps the cats in line they have a time and place for
everything,
Our grandkids love her and visa-versa, she never
lets them out of her sight, and considers herself one of them, she sleeps
with them when they are here and really babysits, it is amazing, she
seems to know they are her responsibility
she does a rollover trick and retrieves a ball so
that makes her pretty popular.
She is the most behaved dog I have ever had the
pleasure to be around, We still take her on the ferry and the comments
we get really make us proud.
she has complete control of the house and yard when
she is home alone and has stayed by herself 3 nights and 4 days, the
house looked better than if we had spent the weekend here ourselves. the
neighbors say they never hear her , as you can gather we are pretty
proud of her.
she has the strangest markings on her tail there is
a black zig zag line down her tail, it looks as if someone sewed a
steering wheel cover on her tail, it is totaly cool ,I have had people
ask me if that is a trait of the breed, and dont know how to answer,
have you ever seen it before.
We have met a number of people who have owned Filas
and I believe all of them have been from your kennel, you are quit
famous you know,
Any way just want to say thanks again, we have
looked at filas from all over via the internet and your dogs are by far
supierior to anything we have ever seen.
We have been to the vet three times and it is
amazing how she handles it , she dont like it you can tell, but kind
surges and puts up with him.
Thanks lots , we want you to see her and will
make that happen soon.
Sincerly
Paul and Cathy

Subject: Kodiak (Lexus/Kinzer)
Thought you'd like to hear about Kody - I
was walking him across the property tonight, and one of the dalmatians
that he hadn't met before ran out of the other house to see me. Kody had
been puppying along, goofy, but when he saw the dog running at (to) me,
he quick as a flash ran in front of me, and got on his tippy toes all
alert and growled like he was the biggest lion you'd ever seen. Then
when he saw it was ok, he licked her ear.
Not that he isn't an impressive sight -
at what is it, five months! he's ninety pounds and twenty-four inches!
And a very handsome fellow, of course. All the best, Cindy

it or not. Please let me know.
Tika is a wonderful girl. She stays with me wherever I go seldom letting
me out of her sight.Shes wonderful with the farm animals with the
exception of getting a mouth full of chicken feathers every once in
awhile. I'm more than pleased with the choice you made for me. Thanks!!

Hi Dawna:
Just wanted to wish you a Happy New Years!
Wanted to tell you how great and wonderful these dogs are. But,
I don't have too. I just read all your emails and letters and there is
nothing more to say. All those people are as happy as we are. And
then, and then I was so excited to read about my girls. Today
is the first time I saw them on the "Internet" They
are famous too, like their real mother. I laughed as i
read them.
I have so many more stories to share.
Take care
michelle
