Hi,
Just wanted to let you know all 3 of my dogs
are awesome! They were acting weird this afternoon, kept going to the
fence and barking and sometimes just watching. I walked down twice but
never saw anything, so I told them to knock it off!
Well, about 1 hour later the 3 of them hit
my front gate like a bomb (glad I have a sturdy fence!) . I ran out to
see what on earth was happening, and there were 2 black bears outside
the gate, they were turning to head for the hills when I got there.
Simba and Nala looked ferocious! they backed off on command, even in all
of the confusion. Even the pup was growling and carrying on, he thinks
he's so tough, he really has an attitude. I think he's an alpha, he
just needs to learn now that I'm the top alpha!
These dogs are 2,6 & 7 months old and
were totally fearless! Needless to say they got an extra special dinner
and extra chicken wings tonight!
They all say 'hi' :^)

Subject: Baby Logan
Hi Dawna:
Just an update on Logan(the fawn male pup from the Mayhem/Grizzly litter).
Logan was at the vet yesterday for a needle and at 13 weeks now
weighs 46.5 lbs. He is really a nice little pup. He is
very smart. He can sit and shake and he moves the baby gate we use to
block off different areas with his nose. He is doing very well with
his kennel training and his potty training. He has a very nice
personality--a little stubborn at times but very cute. Nothing seems
to bother him and he is virtually fearless.
He just loves riding in the car and is now going for little walks once in
awhile on a leash. He is so so different from the other Fila we had
gotten from you. At this point in time Logan is alot more friendly
with strangers that the other dog was. It is interesting that they
had the same father but different mothers and that has made so much of a
difference in their personality etc. I must say that the
Mayhem/Grizzly match seems to be a marvelous one. Well that's about
it for now. We are truly enjoying this little pup.

Hi Dawna. Thanks for the quick reply!
You must spend as much time on the internet as I do!
Syd is really pretty, isn't she? I
haven't seen any other Filas in person, only pictures. However,
you just seem to know (of course, if you love an animal, I guess they're
all beautiful!). She's so wonderful - even with the baby pups.
I try to let her be around the little girl we're keeping as much as
possible, though if they really start to play I have to pick the
Standard up. Syd's still just a baby herself, and while she's very
careful, she could just accidentally step on the little one.
The other day, she accidentally got in the
yard with the whole litter for just a minute. They love her!
They surrounded her, and I was trying to call her to get her out in the
other yard, well, she wouldn't move for fear of stepping on someone!
She had 13 little black dogs all around her, and just couldn't move.
Our pup likes to "attack" her when she's laying down.
The pup pushes up all that loose skin til it makes a roll, then bites
it! Syd just looks at me like get this little pirahna off of me!
Thanks again for the info - I'll give Chris
a call.

Hi Dawna,
I hope that you and yours are all well!
I was delightfully surprised when I discovered the picture of our
puppies in the Poppies on your website, about a month ago. Thank
you so much for posting them! We have sent the link to several of
our friends so they can see them too.
Calibos and Ciara are doing great. Calibos is holding his weight
at about 150-160 lbs, 28 1/2 inches @ 14months, and Ciara is 93
1bs, 24 inches @ 7months. Calibos finished his obedience classes
and does very well walking on a leash and obeying. He is
protective of our home, but is reasonably friendly when we have
adult/teen friends over, or we go out on walks. He never misses a
thing, though. He is constantly surveying the situation. I
have no fear and no doubt that he wouldn't hesitate to protect us.
Calibos gets so excited when we come home he starts "singing"
to us. Of course Scott encourages him and thinks it is
hilarious. Unfortunately Calibos is not very good with small
children due to a bad experience at 5 1/2 months. A kid at a
garage sale decided it would be cute to let his little brother ride him,
it happened before we realized what the kids intentions were. Ever
since then he is very nervous around kids, especially small ones, and
does not like them coming too close. Ciara is actually more wary
of strangers than Calibos, even though she is only 7 months old!
It takes her a while to warm up to most people. However, she is
great with kids! She is very affectionate and devoted to us.
She wants to be right where we are. They both have wonderful
personalities, and are a very important part of our family. Once
again, thank you for our wonderful puppies.
With the Arizona heat being what it is, we are experiencing some
difficulty in getting them out to really excercise enough.
Temperature are already staying in the mid-90's - 105 degrees. We
have to wait until late in the evening when the sidewalks and streets
cool down. Early morning would be best, but we both have to be at
work by 5am. They are outside from 4:30 am until about 1:45 pm, so
they do get to romp around in the cooler morning hours together.
They have a big stock tank full of water that they can get into to cool
off. So far though, Ciara doesn't like to get wet. They
spend the afternoon and evening in the house with us.
Sincerely and thankfully,
Marci
