SB188 is DEAD ! THANKS ! to a great group working as a team Senator Befforts legislation to declare several breeds of dog dangerous and to prohibit ownership of American Pit Bull Terriers was stopped on the committee floor today. Two ACF Board of Directors Marci Grebing (genetics expert) and Michelle Kurvink and two ACF Representatives Jim Cortese and Summer Wilson testified providing evidence that Senator Beffort's data was frivolous. New Mexico dog lobbyist Norm Wison also testified opposing the bill along with local animal control and one dog owner. One person supported Befforts bill !!! ACF lobbied the entire state capitol while in New Mexico providing each State Senator and Representative with accurate data on canine legislation and research. Thanks goes out to Maggie Amacher who assisted in networking with everyone in New Mexico and offered information to be presented to the Legislators. The Senate Committee heard testimony from ACF after Senator Beffort spoke, Beffort had attempted to claim Denvers breed ban was successful, ACF's team testified to the truth behind Denvers breed ban and to the fact that Beffort has nothing but manipulated data about American Pit Bull Terriers.
