Public hearing on pit bull ordinance set for Thursday at 6:30 p.m.

Arkadelphia's Board of Directors will hear from Sheriff David Turner, Arkadelphia Police Chief Al Harris and Patrolman Jody Evans regarding pit bull dog attacks in the county as they consider on second reading an ordinance to place restrictions on owners of the dogs in the city.

The board will meet Thursday at 7 p.m. in the boardroom of Town Hall, 700 Clay St.

The board will also hear from Donny Manning, the director of the city's animal control department, regarding the number of pit bull encounters and other animal control issues.
City Manager Jimmy Bolt will present information to the board regarding the costs of complying with the proposed ordinance.

The meeting will follow a public hearing on the ordinance. The public hearing will begin at 6:30 p.m.
