Another tragic incident involving animals within the city has led to two dogs losing their lives.

City Administrator Aaron Parrish said this morning that, in light of other recent incidents, the city is in the process of evaluating its dog ordinance, particularly portions applying to nuisance and/or dangerous dogs.

"We're taking a look at how other cities and areas have done theirs," he said. "We'll have recommendations for the Public Safety Committee soon."

The matter is on the committee's Aug. 14 agenda and was set before Thursday's incident, Parrish added.

Crookston has, in the past, had an ordinance singling out specific breeds of dogs, he explained. However, the state no longer allows cities to have these types of ordinances.

"What we pass has to apply to all dogs," he said.
