(CINCINNATI) -- Members of Cincinnati City Council want to take a closer look at the city's ban on vicious dogs.

Councilman Cecil Thomas says the city's working on creating a task force to review the current ban, which prohibits vicious dogs within city limits.

Thomas says the ban in its current form isn't working.

"I do see that there's a need for everybody to go back to the table to come up with something that protects responsible owners of dogs but also holds those accountable the irresponsible individuals," said Thomas.

It was not decided when the task force will begin meeting, or when it would make recommendations to council.
