CROWLEY — The Acadia Parish Police Jury ratified Tuesday, in an 8-0
vote, an amendment to the existing ordinance for dangerous dogs.
This decision was a result of a court ruling that stated that the
ordinance cannot indicate any specific breed of dog. The existing
ordinance makes explicit references to pit bulls. The amended
ordinance would replace all such references with “dangerous dogs.”
In May, the jury voted unanimously to amend the ordinance by
removing the reference to pit bulls. The jury held a public hearing
June 19, but received no comments from the public.
