Subject: BSL ACROSS THE NATION / Wa BSL-bills
My friend Cherie Graves from R.D.O.W.S. has been circulating petitions covering different states to attempt to gain support from voters (dog owners) I suggest everyone sign these and pass them on to your email lists urging signatures. These petitions can be used for stopping BSL and passing effective legislation. I have said many times state laws that prohibit BSL will not stop BSL because every year a bill gets introduced to repeal existing state laws, however the power of the people will stop BSL and these petitions come from voters. Cherie will be placing information on this email list and we aske everyone to follow its instructions. In Washington this Saturday I was invited to a dog show hosted by the All American Pit Bull Association in Vancouver Wa. The attendance was huge and over 150 APBT owners were present to hear ACF address BSL. Cherie Graves sent a petition to the AAPBA and everyone at the show signed it. The AAPBA also gave a generous donation to A.C.F. and everyone agreed to help fight to stop BSL. AAPBA members at the show live in Oregon and Washington and the show offers 5 events for APBT's including agility. Thank you AAPBA !!! WASHINGTON BSL HB1150 ACF's 1150 sponsored by Representative Kirby has passed the Full House, this bill's intent is to estabilsh the RCW to make it impossible to use a dogs breed to determine it to be potentially dangerous, the wording as it is now states ( a dogs breed "soley" can't be a determining factor in declaring a dog potentially dangerous ) the word soley is being removed and there is a very good reason for this so we will be sending out the list of Senators very soon asking for a letter writing campaign in support of this bill. HB1016 Representative Campbells bill to stop insurance discrimination is set to be heard on the House Floor Tuesday and we need all Washington dog owners ( voters ) to email the entire House of Represenatives listed below. The Insurance Commisioner is opposing the bill and ACF has been in touch with the Commisioner and is meeting with him next week. Of outrage is when we needed dog owners to testify ay the House Committee hearings on HB1016 we had received promises from dog owners they would show up, nobody came to the hearing except Jeff Helsdon, a Veterinarian and myself. When this bill comes before the Senate we would expect dog owners and organizations to send their REPS to Olympia. Please email the House of Representatives on this bill, it will stop not only insurance discrimination but have a great impact on BSL.
