Cee Cee
came in 2nd at the 1997 World Dog Show in the largest class, Open Bitch. The amazing
part is that this was only the second time in her life she was ever shown. Only 2
years prior to that, Stormy Morris of Blue Thunder Filas, called me to ask if I would take
an abused rescue bitch (she had never seen Cee Cee), if she drove to Georgia to get her
and then would fly her out here on a visit. After getting her, she reported the dog
was pitifully thin, full of worms, had sores from dragging a logging chain, her coat was
dull and dry and she had several lumps (which turned out to be benign tumors). In
other words, Cee Cee's win was a real life Cinderella story. I cannot tell you how
proud we were to have this incredible bitch in our breeding program. We lost Cee Cee
in 1998.Photo - Cee Cee at home.

Please help with rescue! There are only 4 of us doing this and we
need help. I would love to see a rescue house in every state!
Cumbraylo sired many litters of puppies. His magnificent structure had an undeniably
powerful presence. He inspired admiration and much criticism for me personally and my
kennel. But, true to my nature, I held fast in my belief in this great dog. My critics
whined that he had a misplaced white patch on the top of his neck and he looked too
mastiffy; also, he was too big (a ½" over the standard, which is a minor
faultto be too small is a disqualification). We decided to breed him based on the
following facts: there were pitifully poor choices in the U.S. for breeding dogs with good
hips, elbows, temperament, and bone mass with only 500 dogs registered here. He had hard
temperament, stability, OFA hips, no ED, great movement, excellent bone mass, top line,
rear angulation, tail carriage, not dog aggressive, and extremely intelligent and a
willing learner. We would have liked a different head, but we knew we could change the
stop and the length of the ears by choosing our bitches carefully. We also took care not
to breed bitches with a lot of white in their genetic background. We believe we set goals,
made a commitment, paid our dues with our failures, and heartbreaking losses, but at the
end was a successful breeding program producing two Jr. World Champions, one World
Champion adult, one puppy World Champion, two Reserve World Champions, as well as the 1997
Number 1 Working Fila at the World Show. Cumbraylo is in the pedigree of the majority of
these dogs (in Renos case, he is his maternal grandfather). We had
retired him to a farm near ours. He came home to breed a bitch and on the day he was to
return to his new home he died. He was one of the great ones. Photo-Cumbraylo

Duke was beyond what most people think of when they consider a "hard Fila
male". Duke almost amputated both front legs trying to go through a sharp wire fence
to get trespassers. A breeder who likes to be known for hard dogs returned him to me; his
wife feared a lawsuit. Duke was a great dog who sired many litters for Eshabeta. Duke
passed on the qualities of temperament, low ears, loose skin, and tenacity. We still have
several of his children in our program and sperm from him in a bank. We lost him last
year. I hope someday to have one like him. His father was Beau - Soberbo
das Leoas; his mother, Medussa
of Montagna Aria. Photo-Duke and Dawna

Shevon did so much for our breeding program, producing a 1997 Jr. World Champion
female, numerous litters of puppies (1 litter per year) from the age of 2 until 9 years of
age. She developed a problem from a piece of hay that when lodged in her uterus, caused an
infection and we spayed her. She not only produced many top quality puppies, when bred to
several different studs over the years, but also contributed high levels of soundness,
agility, intelligence and temperament. I worked her in agility, obedience, and she was my
personal protection dog at my retail store. She raised puppies from any bitch. She loved
puppies. To this day we feel part of her enthusiasm for life comes from her "nanny
duties", which she still performs. Shevon is one of my best friends and would do
anything she could to prove that. We allowed Shevon her first bite at age 7 with an
agitator with a sleeve. She loved it! We lost Shevon in 1998. It was hard to say
good-bye.
