BLACKWATCH ADULT FEED PROGRAM I have used this feed program for many years, and provide a copy for my puppy buyers. Meat and bone are balanced in calcium and phosphorus ratio and MUST be fed together, or you can cause growth problems. Do not feed straight raw or cooked meat without the bone, and do not use a meat/rice mixture as this unbalances your commercial dog food's calcium/phosphours levels. Giardia is a waterborne protozoa (parasite, but not a worm) which is very difficult to detect. Anytime you have a dog that will not gain weight, is on/off their feed or with intermittent loose stools or diarrhea, you should automatically treat for Giardia first, before you start looking for other health problems such as IBD. Giardia is in all systems, when there is overgrowth in the gut, the system can't manage it and that is when there is evidence of loose stools, weight loss and not eating. Once a dog has it, it often reoccur . It is important to use a diet that makes an environment that is not conducive for proliferation and overgrowth of Giardia in the gut. This diet will help manage reoccuring Bloat, Giardia or IBD problem. I suggest - forget testing - instead I suggest you clean out the entire gut with Panacur or something your vet suggests for Giardia, and at the same time: > restablish/reseed the gut with beneficial bacteria in the form of BacPacPlus Fortified w/Yucca - 800 -872-0073 > Oxy-drops use to prevent reinfestation 877-816-7600 Put Oxydrops in their drinking water or pour over food - see instructions.
